Contestants are selected on the basis of their tapes. Resumes may be verified. Contestants will be judged on musicianship, technique and overall stature as a potential performing artist with a symphony orchestra. Complete works must be prepared and memorized. For voice and instruments requiring an accompanist, it is recommended that contestants provide their own accompanists. If this is not possible, the Competition will supply one for a fee of $90.00. This entitles the contestant to one 1-hour rehearsal before the performance. The score for the accompanist must be sent with the application. Photocopied scores are unacceptable. Securing use of an official accompanist cannot be guaranteed after February 19, 2010. One purchased copy of the score that has no personal notes or markings on it must be available for the judges’ use on the day of the competition.
