The First Prize winner of the William C. Byrd Competition will receive $6,000: $3,000 immediately after the Competition and a contract to perform with the Flint Symphony Orchestra. The remaining $3,000 will be awarded after the Flint Symphony Orchestra performance.

Failure to fulfill this engagement would result in forfeiture of the $3,000.

A second prize of $2,500 will be awarded, and three finalists will receive $1,000 each.
